ALIANZA BOCAS is a non-profit coalition that groups together organizations and institutions that act in the Province of Bocas del Toro. It seeks to promote local development with the active participation of people in the sustainable use of the natural resources of our region.
OUR VISION
We aspire for the province of Bocas del Toro to be recognized as a model of sustainable development for having healthy ecosystems that guarantee the sustainability of all human activities for present and future generations. This development must be achieved with equal opportunities and equitable distribution of the benefits of economic activities, and with trained and organized communities to carry out their own development proposal.
OUR GOALS, FOR THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
The main objectives of ALIANZA BOCAS are to promote and support the sustained and sustainable development of the province of Bocas del Toro, caring for and protecting the environment, promoting the improvement in the quality of life of its communities, and integrating with equity the different sectors that participate in this development.
IN FAVOR OF KEY ECOSYSTEMS AND THEIR SPECIES
In this extensive region we find ecosystems that are the basis of ecological wealth, human life and a potential source of usable resources for the ecotourism development of their communities. Among them we have the humid and very humid forests, the coastal lagoons, the rivers and streams, the swamps, the mangroves, the beaches, the coral reefs and the seagrass meadows, with great emphasis on the animal species that are threatened as the sea turtle, the manatee, the sloth, the harpy eagle and marine fauna in general.
WITH A LOT OF PARTICIPATION
We hope to achieve the participation of all the participating sectors in the sustainable development of the region through the organization of the communities, the awareness of its inhabitants through training and environmental education, and the execution of more and better projects creating a greater capacity in local organizations.
